BookOn Production
There are now two main ways to create a BookOn product. Previously, the author or publisher supplied the PDF file and media elements and MediaTechnics Corporation produced the product, linking the media elements and testing the product. With the release of the consumer-level BookOnPublish tools, authors and publishers can now create products directly.
The consumer-level BookOnPublish tools are simplified, so don’t yet support all features of the system used internally at MediaTechnics Corporation. Also, the current BookOnPublish system is limited to creation of documents of 99 pages or less. Future releases will add more features and will increase the capabilities of the system.
Generally speaking, you may want to consider producing the product yourself, using BookOnPublish, when:
-
1.You want to retain complete control over the production process.
-
2.You want to minimize cost by doing the production work yourself.
-
3.The project is appropriate for the features of the BookOnPublish system.
You may want to consider having MediaTechnics Corporation produce the product for you when:
-
1.Your project requires some feature not yet available in BookOnPublish. The primary features not yet supported with BookOnPublish include issue or polling questions, in-place animations (illustrations that come to life as animations), and interactive end of chapter material including QuickCheck questions and key terms review as used in New Perspectives on Computer Concepts.
-
2.You don’t have the time or desire to learn how to use the BookOnPublish system and prefer a turn-key product.
-
3.Your project is more than 99 pages in length.
-
4.You need to publish a number of products and want to discuss licensing arrangements.
