How can digital publishing benefit authors?
Authoring is a tough business. Writing a book is hard enough, but the economics of the publishing industry make it next to impossible for new authors to get published. Most new authors can’t even get an agent or publisher to look at their work. And, of those books that do get published, most don’t generate a profit or royalties beyond the initial advance. Even successful authors find they’re spending more time marketing their book than writing. Digital publishing can change all that.
Writing a book for delivery as a BookOn product is very much like writing a traditional book. The book is written, copy edited, and laid out in a desktop publishing program. At that point the book can be printed as a traditional book or printed as a PDF file, which is then converted to the secured BookOn publishing format.
Use of advanced features such as media, Web links, and educational features is entirely optional. If you want to use those features in your book, you would prepare the media files and Web pages, incorporate “click here” links in your page design, and prepare a list of links and the associated media elements or Web pages. That’s it! The MediaTechnics production team will link and pre-test the product before sending you a master file for posting or production.
What about payment and activation?
If you’re an author with a product that might be appropriate for delivery as a BookOn publication, we encourage you to consider publishing with MediaTechnics Corporation and the BookOn publishing system. It’s a great opportunity to stake your claim in the fast-growing digital publishing industry and allows you to stay focused on content creation.
If you prefer to self-publish, you can do that as well. We’ll configure your product to direct purchasers to a Web page linked to any payment system you prefer, such as your PayPal account, so all payments go directly to you. We’ll sell you batches of activation keycodes which you’ll e-mail to your purchasers.
